My name is Marlyn (pronounced like Mar-lynn or Marlin) and I appreciate that you are taking the time to read this. Just a little bit about me…I am married & have a daugher, a dog, and a cat.
When it comes to photography, I was always walking around taking pictures of whatever caught my eye, much to my mother’s irritation at having to constantly pay to develop film. When I was in high school, I took my first photography course and instantly fell in love with this scientific art. My teachers, guidance counselors , & parents all discouraged me from pursuing photography at the college and career level because they said I was “too smart.” Sounds crazy, right?!?
After earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, I entered corporate America. I definitely didn’t enjoy the corporate world, but at the time, I couldn’t think of anything better to do. When I got married, I thought I had found a great photographer at a reasonable price. However, we had what I will suffice to call an “interesting” experience with our photographer. (Let’s just say that I do not have any of my wedding pictures framed!)
I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. My wedding experience compelled me to again think about photography at the college and career level. I almost immediately discovered the wonderful (and difficult) photography program at Daytona State College and enrolled the next semester. Some people ask if taking photography at the college level is important. I believe it is important to be both technically and artistically trained, so my answer is yes, it is very important! (By the way I earned A’s in all of my photography classes!) Needless to say, I will not let one of my brides go through what I went through. For those of you who have read this far, thank you for your time! I like to let my clients know that I am a perfectionist and that you can feel safe in my photographic hands. I am an active member of Florida Professional Photographers & the Professional Photographers Society of Central Florida. I am also a firm believer in continuing education to stay up to date with technology & trends.
